Abstract

Blockchain technology has emerged as a transformative solution for ensuring data security and integrity in distributed IT environments. Its decentralized, immutable, and transparent ledger system provides resilience against data tampering, unauthorized access, and single-point failures. This review explores blockchain architectures and their application in securing distributed systems, including cloud computing, IoT networks, and enterprise IT infrastructures. We discuss consensus mechanisms, cryptographic techniques, smart contracts, and hybrid blockchain models. Additionally, the review evaluates challenges related to scalability, energy efficiency, regulatory compliance, and integration with existing IT environments. Future directions emphasize interoperable, energy-efficient, and privacy-preserving blockchain solutions to ensure secure and reliable distributed IT operations. [1–5]
